A 1 star rating means I haven't seen it.

A 7 star rating or higher doesn't mean I would recommend it like the site is set up to indicate. I'd recommend anything between 4 stars and 10, depending on your taste. Some which are rated higher than 7 are merely rated higher so I can sort them out later. I may change them to 4,5,6, or higher at a later time.

Anything with 2 or 3 stars is not worth watching.

Great contribution to similar movies

Movies like "Stand and Deliver" and "Freedom Writers" came to mind while watching this movie. FW centered on identity and connecting with students, but in "Rocky" fashion CC presents Jackson as a coach like Mickey.

And like Rocky, the team is the underdog, and to make more sense of the movie they seem to be in a lower league. They have to succeed past their low expectations on the court and in their academics. There is also one more lesson.

Watch it!!!

This movie has a base plot mimicking the story of Pinocchio, but goes way beyond that. Make sure you either get an English dubbed version or one with subtitles unless you can understand Japanese.

Above average suspense, but nothing more

There should have been more involvement with the police. It's an obvious hurdle considering the plot, but one the movie makers just seemed to ignore.
